Vacation 2013 - New York, New York

We headed out to NYC around 6:00 a.m and arrived by 11:00 a.m. Fortunately there wasn't much rush-hour traffic to delay our trip.  We began our trip in the lower part of Manhattan.  Our first stop was the World Trade Center and Ground Zero.  From there we headed over to Battery Park and took a ferry ride around town.  Most of Battery Park is closed off for repairs due to damage from Hurricane Sandy.

Ryan told me this was his first boat ride. I think that meant he was excited.  Of course the sales people tell you that the ferry departs every 30 minutes, but it is actually more like 45 minutes AND you don't always make the first ferry your waiting on.  The kids kept busy enjoying pretzels while we waited in line.

Who would have ever guessed that these two would end up in the room with the driver?

The view of One World Trade Center from the water.  The WTC is at it's full height, of 1,776 feet tall.

Unfortunately we could not get off to visit the Statue of Liberty. Due to Hurricane Sandy, the Statue of Liberty is still undergoing repair work. She will re-open on July 4th. We did learn that the book says July 4th, 1776, her index finger is over 7 feet long, and if she wore shoes her size would be 879!

Poor Ryan did not feel well most of the visit. He had a horrible ear ache that kept him pretty low key.

Is this the next Bieber or what? Maybe Joe Cool? LOL

We hopped off the ferry at Pier 45, and could see a storm moving in.  We had hoped the parking garage was close and we could get to the car before the rain hit. We were so wrong.  The rain poured as we skipped along from awning to awning, attempting to stay dry.  Finally Jacob decided to catch a cab for us. We all piled in, each of us with something or someone in our laps.  Another first experience for the Allen family!  Thank goodness this taxi driver was a mild driver.

Our hotel was located right between Rockefeller Center and Times Square, a great location.

Someone lost her second tooth in NYC! She was crunching on a piece of candy when we realized it was gone, so one can only imagine what happened with the tooth.

Our visit included a stop at Rockefellar Center.

A couple shots I managed to get while we were hanging out in Rockefeller Center.

Our tour continued north, as we headed for FAO Schwarz and Central Park.  The two littles were really starting to get tired at this point.  Not sure who was more "done".

The Apple Store is underground. Here is a shot of the Apple from downstairs.  Pretty awesome how they have a store underground.

Baby S - I think it took her most of the day to warm up to me, but she finally got there.

Baby G - Whose not to love those beautiful blue eyes?
